Humanities and Social Sciences
Humanities and Social Sciences department offers courses that examine the philosophical, literary, aesthetic, and cultural awareness of people of different cultures throughout the ages as well as courses which focus on people as members of society. These courses offer students the opportunity to explore their creativity and imagination. They stimulate critical thinking on the ways people act and have acted in response to their societies and on how their actions in turn change their society.
Faculty
The department has seen volunteers developing courses from many different angles. The variety of volunteers has led to development of a wide and varied set of Social Science courses, some of which are listed below. Currently Defne Suman heads up the Social Science department, specializing in sociology. Defne received a master's degree from Istanbul University in Sociology and keeps up to date on current sociological issues.
