Introduction to the Study of History
An introduction to the discipline of history and its sources. The course is a survey of the varieties, traditions and analytical tools of historical writing. Includes an introduction to historiography and to practical training in the crafts of a historian such as library research, methodology of research and paper writing.
Introduction to Sociology
This is a course in which the basic concepts of sociology as well as methods of studying society are introduced. Social institutions such as family, religion, education, work and mass media are discussed within a global framework. Case studies that exemplify everyday interaction, and cross cultural comparisons constitute a major part of the course.
Introduction to Psychology
This course provides an overview of the current theories and research in the areas of heredity and environment, learning, sensation and perception, intellect and cognition, language, memory, personality, sexuality, human development, abnormal psychology and therapy. Emphasis will be placed on studying behavior within a scientific framework.
