Welcome to Robert M. Jansen's Home Page at FGCC

Since August 2004 I am the Systems Administrator at FGCC (First Global Community College) in Nong Khai, Thailand. I support the staff, faculty and students with their computing needs and maintain the servers (Windows 2003 Server and Linux).

Since February 2008 I am also working for Lanna Consulting. Because I am not a business person, but a hacker (please see RFC 1983 for the correct definition of the term "hacker"), this is a very positive relationship, because Jeff Petry, the owner and CEO of Lanna Consulting is very good at getting new customers and keeping me busy.

As a Web Developer for Lanna Consulting my main focus is on the following websites:

On 21 October 2009 I also became the webmaster for BeeBee Fitness in Vientiane, Laos:

And since November 2006 I've also provided patches for a few Open-Source projects:

• ImageMagick - reading and writing of Windows ICO files
• WebCheck - Miscellaneous patches
• Korn Shell - I provided a bug report and analysis concerning the "hist_trim" function, but I was not able to provide the correct patch, because I do not know the code well enough - yet.

In a previous life I worked for Oracle, Corp. in the Silicon Valley and BASF AG in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

hacker

A person who delights in having an intimate understanding of the internal workings of a system, computers and computer networks in particular. The term is often misused in a pejorative context, where "cracker" would be the correct term.
