My time at FGCC has been amazing. The students are polite, fun and eager to learn what we have to teach them. There is always something going on socially–either with the students or with the other volunteers. Just this weekend my wife and I were invited to spend the weekend at a student’s village to celebrate a local festival. We were greeted with interested smiles and shouts of “Hello” and so much delicious FOOD! Probably one of my favorite things about teaching in Thailand, after working with the students, is the endless opportunity to try Thai food. I have also enjoyed traveling around the area on a motorcycle. Teaching at FGCC is an adventure on many levels and one, which I would not miss for the world!

My husband and I wanted to volunteer abroad after we got married and arranged to come to FGCC for two semesters. In the two months that we have been here we have learned a lot about Thailand. We have had the chance to study the basics of the Thai language, to explore villages and towns near Nong Khai, and to learn about local customs and cuisine. The people of Isaan (northeast of Thailand) are very friendly–on the street and in the classroom. We are having a great time getting to know our students. In addition to all of this, we have also learned about ourselves, in part by taking an intensive yoga class. In a short time, we have experienced more that we could have hoped for. I would highly recommend a volunteering at FGCC to anyone seeking adventure.
